When I am feeling a lot of stress, home repair projects tend to be a good outlet for me.  This is particularly convenient in the current situation because if we decide to move, odds are we will have to put the house on the market in a few months.

The house is not even close to ready to be listed.  I have a list a page and a half long of projects that we need to complete.  In the last few days, I have been painting.  I painted the trim in the basement, and repainted the trim on the main floor of the house.  I also painted a trash-picked dresser and an old headboard salvaged from MIL’s house, which will hopefully transform the playroom into a bedroom once the playroom is moved to the new basement.

I have learned one valuable lesson from these very small and insignificant to the big-picture projects:  Those shows like “Sell this House” and “Designed to Sell” are huge fuc*king LIES.  There is NO WAY they can get all that work done in two days without an army of workers painting and decorating.  There NO WAY those homeowners get the bulk of that work done with only the host of the show helping.  It never occured to me before to question the methods, but now I feel like I know a dirty little secret.

I wonder how hard it is to convince them to come to my house?  I wonder if you have to pay for all the items they buy if you are on the show?  If I get desperate enough, I may be willing to consider it.

I swear, my mother has been possessed by the forces of the Disney marketing machine.

Is this really necessary? Seriously.  It turns the milk PINK

And she doesn’t even seen the irony in the fact that she refused to allow my sister and me to eat any cereal that listed sugar (or sweeteners) in the first two ingredients when we were growing up.
